SMI members can avail themselves to various gifted counselors and coaches. Often times, an outside perspective on leadership, vision, and strategy is needed to help a pastor or leader develop ministries to their full potential. The below listing of SMI team members may be sent to SMI churches and ministries to provide insight in the following areas:
Jackie White & Key COTR Staff
Pastor Jackie has been in the ministry since 1975. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in education, he began ministering and working with young people in 1975. He served as the Youth and College Minister at Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Pastor Jackie founded Church on the Rock in 1985 and has a vision for the local church, the city of Lubbock, and the world. He serves on the Executive Council for Summit Ministries International, the Board of Directors for Prepare International, and the Leadership Team for Pray Lubbock. Pastor Jackie also speaks at Pastor’s conferences all over the world in conjunction with Global Advance. He and his wife, Linda were married in 1974, and they have three daughters, Paige (married to Josh Allen), Leslie (married to Alan Rich), and Kelsey (married to Heath Watts). Scott Beard & Key FGF Staff After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from Texas Tech University in 1982, Scott joined the staff at Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas as the High School Pastor. He then relocated to Dallas, Texas to attend Christ for the Nations Institute and met his wife Kim. Scott received his Master's degree in New Testament Studies from Regent University and then served at Church on the Rock in Lubbock, TX for 5 years. In 1992, FountainGate Fellowship in Abilene, Texas (at that time a church of only 75 people called Word of Emmanuel) invited Scott to come and serve as their Senior Pastor. Since that time, FountainGate has grown to 500 people and is impacting the city of Abilene. Scott and Kim have been blessed with five beautiful children: Jase, Madison, Abigail, Emily and Parker. Mike Burns Dr. J. Michael Burns has pastored Word of Victory Outreach Center in Canton, Texas since 1991. He served for 12 years on church staffs in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area prior to coming to Word of Victory. He was also headmaster of a Christian school in addition to his staff positions in the metroplex and is the founder of Victory Christian School in Canton, Texas. Dr. Burns is the president of J. Michael Burns Ministries, an organization dedicated to leadership training. He holds a doctorate from Oral Roberts School of Theology in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pastor Mike and his wife Janet have been married for 30 years and they have two children, Christopher and Bethany. Both children are currently serving in ministry. Morris Sheats Dr. Sheats has been in ministry for over 50 years. He was the Pastor of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas from 1964-1978. From 100 people the church grew to 4,000. From 1978-1980, he was Senior Pastor at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, with a membership of over 6,000 people. Dr. Sheats then founded Leadership Institute, taking his vast experience in leadership training to pastors and churches worldwide. From 1980-1984, as President of Leadership Institute, he taught and trained church leaders throughout the United States – as well as Kenya, England, Italy, Japan, Peru, Thailand, Korea, Ghana, Indonesia, Uganda, India and Canada. In 1984 Pastor Sheats founded Hillcrest Church with 25 people, meeting at the Biblical Arts Center in Dallas. The church grew to over 5,000 members and attendees. For the last three and a half years Dr. Sheats, through Leadership Institute, has once again been actively involved with preaching, teaching and training leaders all over the world. Pastor Sheats holds a B.A. Degree from Texas Tech University, a Master of Divinity, (M. Div.) and Doctor of Ministry, (D. Min.) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Understanding well the dynamics of human relationships, Pastor Sheats is a strong motivational preacher/teacher who enjoys teaching leaders and is in demand as a speaker and trainer for pastors’ conferences. Randy Boyd & Drew Brown Randy Boyd and his wife Callie serve as the Executive Directors of Prepare International today. Both graduated from Texas Tech University and Randy has a Master's of Practical Ministry degree from Wagner Leadership Institute. Randy worked for 18 years in education and has pastored and trained existing and emerging leaders in nations around the world for the last 10 years. Randy founded Kingdom Advance School of Ministry in Abilene, Texas several years ago which is a ministry training school training missionaries, church planters, and key leaders to fulfill the destiny upon their lives. The Boyd's bring a powerful combination of prayer, practical and spiritual training to leadership of Prepare International. They have three children: Josiah, Bethany, & Hannah. Drew Brown and his wife Dawn serve as the Operations and Development Directors for Prepare International. They bring over 20 years of ministry experience to the team in the areas of church planting, communication, pastoral ministry, worship, and business communication. Drew holds a bachelors of Communication and Organization and a Masters in Organizational Communication. Kevin Pate Kevin worked in the accounting field at Pate & Downs Certified Public Accountants for thirteen years and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University. He served on staff at Church on the Rock as an Associate Pastor and as the Business Manager for 7 years and now serves Sower of Seeds, a missions organization that reaches out to the nation of India. Kevin and his wife Diana have three children, Makenzie, Hunter, and Lacey. |
